Retinoschisis
Retinoschisis is a degenerative disease where abnormal splitting of the nerve layers of the retina occur causing visual loss. There are different classifications of retinoschisis.  In one form, male children may inherit the condition from their mothers. Another type results from aging and affects both genders.

Presently, there are no surgical or medical treatments for retinoschisis.
